This case study highlights the effective use of AI in creative projects, demonstrating how technology can enhance traditional design processes to deliver exceptional results.

For Alte, a California Tin Fish company, I utilized AI to generate custom mermaid illustrations for their branding. Using Midjourney, I created dozens of unique mermaid styles, converting them into outlines and refining them in Illustrator. I also developed typography and color palettes to match each illustration's style. This process provided Alte with a diverse selection of mermaid illustrations, resulting in a distinctive and visually appealing brand hero that captured the essence of the sea and Alte's innovative spirit.

By leveraging AI technology for initial design generation and combining it with traditional illustration techniques, we created a unique and memorable brand identity that resonated with Alte's target audience. By manipulating the prompts in Midjourney, I created a series of illustrative options that I would normally have to outsource or spend hours creating. Instead, I leveraged the technology to get the general idea of which direction and style the client was going to prefer, and the chosen direction could then be manipulated and finessed to perfection for rollout.

The result was a stunning collection of mermaid illustrations that provided Alte with numerous options for their brand hero. Simple mockups allowed for the client to see how their character, fonts, and colors could come to life in real world applications such as a food truck, takeout packaging, and tin packaging. The final branding successfully captured the company's innovative approach and connection to the sea, setting Alte apart in the tin fish market.
